AMERICAN SOCCER CLUB NEW YORK ADVANCES TO NORTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE FINAL WITH 3-1 WIN OVER THE NEW YORK SHOCKERS

The Fighting Tomcats will play New Haven United FC in Saturday’s Conference Championship Match

 
(Colonie, New York July 8th, 2026) – American Soccer Club New York defeated the New York Shockers 3-1 Wednesday night in the National Premier Soccer League’s North Atlantic Conference Semifinal Match at Afrim’s Sports Park.
With the victory, American Soccer Club NY advances to Saturday’s North Atlantic Conference Championship Match on the road against New Haven United FC.
“The coaches and I are very proud and pleased with the team’s performance (Wednesday night),” said Fighting Tomcats Head Coach John Fitzgerald. “It’s always a competitive match with the Shockers and credit to them for pushing us so hard.”
After a scoreless first half, Junior Rosero scored off of a direct free kick in the 58th minute to give the Fighting Tomcats a 1-0 lead. Rosero scored again in the 61st minute taking a feed from Bradyn Brown and putting the ball in the back of the net as American Soccer Club NY extended their lead to 2-0.
The Shockers cut the Fighting Tomcats’ lead to 2-1 with a goal in the 87th minute, but Brayden Walker restored the two-goal advantage scoring on a superb solo run in the third minute of stoppage time.
“Junior having a brace (two goals) and Brayden Walker sealing the win with our third goal was key up top for us,” said Fitzgerald. “Then in the back, Aidan Ganun was solid in goal with Lucas Nicolaou keeping our back line tight. Credit to Sean Fitzgerald and Leo Pinto in the midfield for calming the game down when it was sorely needed. Both of them are truly our unsung heroes.”
And now American Soccer Club NY turns their attention to Saturday’s North Atlantic Conference Championship Match against New Haven United FC.
The Fighting Tomcats were 0-1-1 against New Haven during the regular season. They lost 3-0 at New Haven on May 30th and then played New Haven to a 2-2 draw on June 6th at Mitchel Athletic Complex.
