“We have tremendous respect for the history and tradition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup,” said American Soccer Club NY Managing Partner and General Manager Jim Kilmeade. “This marks an important moment for American Soccer Club NY as we take the field against our NPSL rivals in our opening match. To have the opportunity to compete in this historic tournament is something we do not take lightly. We’ve added new players and our coaching staff is working on their integration into the team. We embrace the opportunity that the U.S. Open Cup presents.”
“We’re looking forward to, once again, playing in the U.S. Open Cup,” said American Soccer Club NY Head Coach John Fitzgerald. “It’s a competition with great heritage and offers the “little guys” an opportunity to work our way up to competing against the “big guys”. It’s a very competitive and difficult road to maneuver, but I feel that we’re up to the challenge to make a good run.”
