AMERICAN SOCCER CLUB NEW YORK FALLS TO NEW HAVEN UNITED FC IN NORTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
The Fighting Tomcats are beaten 5-4 on penalty kicks after a 2-2 draw through regulation and extra time
“Tonight’s match was a true culmination of the character and culture of this team,” said Fighting Tomcats Head Coach John Fitzgerald. “The boys never quite nor lost faith in what they could possibly do, even after trailing by a goal and then playing a man down for a good amount of time.”
“The determination in this squad is inspiring, along with the talent each player brings with then,” said Fitzgerald. “Credit to New Haven for staying in the fight as well. The match had all one could want in a final…drama, quality play, emotional roller coaster, and excitement. I am tremendously proud of my players and coaching staff.”
