AMERICAN SOCCER CLUB-NEW YORK SIGNS INTERNATIONAL DEFENDER EZEQUIEL PALOMEQUE
Columbian star joins Fighting Tomcats for the 2026 NPSL season
Long Island, NY (March 4th, 2026) – American Soccer Club-New York has announced the signing of international defender Ezequiel Palomequeto a one-year contract for the 2026 National Premier Soccer League season. The 33-year-old center back is looking forward to playing in the United States with the Fighting Tomcats.
“I’m so excited to come and play and to try to help the team,” said Palomeque. “This is a new opportunity to play at a high level after hearing about the club. I want to be successful again with this team.”
Palomeque was introduced to the team as a result of connections and discovery by Fighting Tomcats Assistant Coach Juan Palacio. That led to the highly-skilled defender deciding to bring his talents to Long Island.
“This is another example of or club’s outreach and the opportunities we can offer,” said ASC New York Head Coach John Fitzgerald. “Ezequiel is a tried-and-true pro with experience at a very high level. I expect that he’ll be an impactful part of our squad bringing a professional mindset and ability to be a solid role model for our younger guys. We’re looking forward to having him in the squad.”
Palomeque’s career began with Spartaks Jurmala (Latvia) in 2011 and then the next year joined Sigma Olomuc (Czechia). He would go on to spend part of 2012 and 2013 with FC Gomel (Belarus). In 2014 and 2015, the native of Quibdo, Columbia made 34 appearances during his first tour of duty with Plaza Amador (Panama). He went on to play for Columbian clubs Cortulua, Atletico Nacional and Deportivo Cali along withUnion Espanola (Chile), Al-Raed (Saudi Arabia) and Alianza Petrolera (Columbia) before returning to Plaza Amador three years ago.
Palomeque expects to play a big role in the Fighting Tomcats competing for an NPSL championship.
“I’m very excited to come and start with ASC New York,” said Palomeque. “I’m a very professional player and I believe my experience will be a big help to the club.”
American Soccer Club-New York will be making additional announcements in the upcoming weeks including player signings and schedule. The 2026 National Premier Soccer League season will begin in May. Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale will be the club’s primary home venue.
