Acosta is the second Fighting Tomcat player to sign with historic club
Long Island, NY (August 7th, 2026) – American Soccer Club New York defender Stalyn Acosta has signed a contract to play for the New York Cosmos of USL League One. Acosta becomes the second Fighting Tomcat to join the Cosmos after defender Will Noecker signed with the iconic franchise back in March.
As per team policy, details of the signing are not disclosed.
“Stalyn Acosta’s transfer to the New York Cosmos represents another significant milestone in American Soccer Club NY’s long-term commitment to developing Long Island Metro NY players and creating meaningful professional opportunities with our club and beyond,” said American Soccer Club New York Managing Partner and General Manager Jim Kilmeade. “Since joining the Fighting Tomcats in 2025, Stalyn has consistently demonstrated the professionalism, work ethic, and competitive character that defines our club’s culture. His progression is a testament to his dedication and the developmental environment our coaching staff has built.”
Last November, ASC New York and the Cosmos announced a partnership agreement designed to strengthen the regional player development system and create a direct professional pathway for Long Island talent.

The 5-9 165-pound Brentwood, New York native played two seasons for American Soccer Club NY and has also played for Liga Pro club Ponce FC in Puerto Rico.
Acosta notched an assist for the Fighting Tomcats during the 2026 playoffs. He played for Brentwood Soccer Club and Brentwood High School before he played collegiately at Cortland.

This past season, American Soccer Club NY qualified for the National Premier Soccer League playoffs for the first time in team history and advanced to the North Atlantic Conference Championship Game.
