Fitzgerald will remain the Head Coach of the Fighting Tomcats
Long Island, NY (August 8th, 2026) – American Soccer Club New York Head Coach John Fitzgerald has been named the Men’s Soccer Head Coach at Molloy University on Long Island.
Fitzgerald will continue to be the Head Coach of the Fighting Tomcats.
“I am honored and extremely proud to lead Molloy Men’s Soccer,” said Fitzgerald. “Coaching two of Long Island’s preeminent teams, American Soccer Club NY and Molloy University, makes me very fortunate. I get to work with terrific and extremely dedicated players, as well as top class coaching staffs, and therefore I am very grateful.”
American Soccer Club NY Captain Sean Fitzgerald and Match Analysis Coach Ben Koch will join Fitzgerald on the Molloy coaching staff.
Fitzgerald has been the Head Coach of American Soccer Club New York since its inception in 2024 and has guided the Fighting Tomcats through their first two seasons in the National Premier Soccer League. This past season, Fitzgerald led American Soccer Club NY to the first playoff appearance in team history as the Fighting Tomcats advanced to the North Atlantic Conference Championship Game.

We have no doubt he will bring those same qualities to Molloy and continue to make a lasting impact on the student-athletes and the program.”
Fitzgerald was previously the Head Coach of the Staten Island Monarchs and was an assistant coach with the Long Island Rough Riders. He was also an assistant coach of New York Cosmos B and helped lead the club to the 2016 National Premier Soccer League National Championship. Fitzgerald was also the Head Coach of the Long Island Rough Riders USL Academy team and Head Coach of the Long Island Lady Rough Riders leading that team to the 1997 W-League National Championship.
Collegiately, Fitzgerald was the Associate Head Coach at the United States Merchant Marine Academy and helped lead the Mariners to six NCAA Tournament appearances.
