Date: July 2, 2025

Uniondale, NY — With an NPSL Playoff Birth on the Line and Fan Appreciation Night set with $10 Tickets, the American Soccer Club NY is proud to announce an impactful new partnership with The William Desroches Foundation. This collaboration supports the Foundation’s mission to honor William Desroches’ legacy by funding the construction of a synthetic turf soccer and lacrosse field at Forest Lake Elementary School in Wantagh.

William Desroches, was a beloved teen student athlete and member of the Wantagh community, who tragically passed away in 2023. In his memory, family and friends established the William Desroches Foundation in 2024 to celebrate his passion for youth sports and his dedication to building strong communities. The new turf field at Forest Lake Elementary will serve as a lasting tribute to William’s life and love for Soccer and Lacrosse.

The American Soccer Club New York, is currently in its inaugural NPSL season. In a short period of time, The Fighting Tomcats have made a huge impact on the local Long Island and Metro NY communities, while bringing high-level, competitive soccer to the region. Based out of Hofstra University’s Captains Field, the Club emphasizes youth development and meaningful community engagement. Recently, they signed 16-year-old rising star and Ronkonkoma native, Dylan Lopez—highlighting their commitment to nurturing local talent. Lopez has already appeared in two matches.

“This partnership brings together two organizations driven by a shared vision of community, youth development, and a love of the game,” said Don Desroches, founder of the William Desroches Foundation. “We’re thrilled to work with the American Soccer Club New York to help make the new field at Forest Lake a reality.”

To that end, American Soccer Club New York will support the Foundation’s fundraising efforts through joint events, community outreach, and enhanced visibility at matches and public engagements. These efforts kick off Saturday night, July 5, at Hofstra University, when the Club faces off against New Haven United FC with a playoff berth on the line.

“We’re honored to partner with the William Desroches Foundation and contribute to such an important cause,” said Jim Kilmeade, Managing Partner / General Manager of American Soccer Club New York. “Building a field where kids can play, learn, and grow is exactly the kind of impact we want to have.”

With the help of their synthetic turf manufacturing partner A-Turf, the Club and Foundation are committed to making the Forest Lake Turf Field Project a reality.

The community is invited to attend the July 5 match and join the William Desroches Foundation and American Soccer Club New York in celebrating the official launch of this meaningful partnership.
