LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — American Soccer Club New York has further strengthened its defensive lineup, announcing the signing of center back Luke Yates for the club’s inaugural 2025 NPSL season.
A native of Rotherham, England, Yates brings an impressive pedigree to ASC New York. He developed through the prestigious Sheffield Wednesday youth academy, making over 190 appearances across the club’s U12 to U18 squads. In 2018, he played a key role in the team’s Youdan International Trophy victory, a tournament known for showcasing top youth talent from around the world.
Yates continued his development with the Bradford City U23 squad in 2021 before making the transition to collegiate soccer in the United States. At Binghamton University, he became a key figure in the Bearcats’ backline, earning recognition for his composure on the ball, strong aerial presence, and leadership on the field.
Yates is expected to play a crucial role in ASC New York’s inaugural campaign, anchoring a defense that will look to compete at a high level in the NPSL.
