AMERICAN SOCCER CLUB RE-SIGNS CO-CAPTAIN MATTHAIS ADAMEK
Former Adelphi and Molloy defender will return for his second season with the Fighting Tomcats
Long Island, NY (December 29th, 2025) – American Soccer Club-New York has announced the re-signing of defender Matthais Adamek to a one-year contract for the 2026 season. Last season, the Whitestone, New York native served as Co-Captain for the Fighting Tomcats. He played with Little Neck/Douglaston until his junior year of high school and then played at Massapequa for his final two years before college.
“I was honored to serve as co-captain last season,” said Adamek. “Re-signing with American Soccer Club gives me the opportunity to continue providing leadership and guidance to the younger players. I take a lot of pride in helping them grow, setting high standards on and off the field, and creating a strong, competitive team culture. I’m excited to build on the progress we made last year, improve consistently, and push this team to compete for trophies while continuing to move the club forward.”
Adamek played high school soccer for St. Francis Prep where he was a two-year varsity player and was their 2015-16 Offensive Most Valuable Player and 2016-17 Most Valuable Player. He started his collegiate career with St. Thomas Aquinas and played in 27 games from 2017 to 2019. Adamek played at Adelphi from 2019 to 2021. He appeared in eleven games (three starts) during the 2019 season as the Panthers captured the NE10 Regular Season Championship. He was named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll with Academic Honors for the Spring 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters. In 2022, he finished his collegiate career with Molloy playing in 19 matches (18 starts) for the Lions totaling 14 shots, 5 shots on goal and one assist.
“The coaches and I are very pleased to have Matté returning for the upcoming season,” said Fighting Tomcats Head Coach John Fitzgerald. “He was our Vice-Captain and did a wonderful job in that role. His pedigree is loaded with experience. He’s full of passion yet has a calm professionalism and when we needed it, he was an absolute warrior in midfield. He’s all in, a strong leader and is a great role model for the younger guys.”
American Soccer Club-New York will be making additional announcements in the upcoming weeks including player signings, home venue and season/group ticket information. The 2026 National Premier Soccer League season will begin in May.
