AMERICAN SOCCER CLUB NEW YORK NAMES PETER SCHWARTZ COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
Veteran sports reporter to handle Media Relations, Public Address Announcing and Sales for the Fighting Tomcats
Long Island, NY (December 1st, 2025) – American Soccer Club New York has named longtime New York area sports announcer and writer Peter Schwartz as their Communications Coordinator. Having spent more than three decades working in radio, television and print media, Schwartz brings a wealth of experience to the team as they prepare for their second National Professional Soccer League season in 2026.
He will have a multi-faceted role with the organization handling Media Relations, Public Address Announcing and Sales.
“I’m excited to be joining American Soccer New York,” said Schwartz. “Soccer has a rich history on Long Island and I’m looking forward to being part of a franchise committed to growing the sport on Long Island and developing local talent. I want to thank Jim Kilmeade and Kevin Reardon for affording me this amazing opportunity.”
Schwartz, an on-air personality on WFAN Radio and a writer for Greater Long Island, has extensive experience in soccer. He was the play-by-play announcer for the Long Island Rough Riders in 1997 and 1998 and was the Public Address Announcer for the New York Cosmos from 2013 to 2019. He has also called play-by-play for high school soccer games on MSG Varsity, News 12 Varsity and Varsity Media.
“Peter is a tremendous addition to the Fighting Tomcats family,” said Jim Kilmeade, Managing Partner–General Manager of American Soccer Club New York. “His broadcasting and media experience, professionalism, and deep ties to the New York/Long Island sporting community make him the ideal person to help elevate our club’s presence on and off the field. As we build toward our second NPSL season, Peter’s leadership in communications and fan engagement will play a crucial role in shaping the identity and growth of our organization.”
Peter’s love for soccer dates back to the 1970’s and 1980’s when he would frequently go with his family to Giants Stadium to see the original Cosmos who became an iconic franchise in the North American Soccer League. He also became a fan of the New York Arrows who won four Major Indoor Soccer League titles during their time at Nassau Coliseum from 1979 to 1984.
“Every soccer club that I’ve rooted for and worked for has won championships,” said Schwartz. “I’m looking forward to American Soccer Club New York growing into a franchise that will be able to do the same and compete for championships while also identifying and developing some of the best players on Long Island along with Queens and Brooklyn.”
In addition to his soccer experience, Schwartz has worked for several other Long Island pro sports franchises including the New York Dragons of the Arena Football League, the New York Saints of the Major Indoor Lacrosse League and his current role as a public address announcer for the Long Island Ducks baseball team in the Atlantic League.
